fall trees DW“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

God works every circumstance – all things – for the certain good of those who love Him, who have answered His call.

What a hard thing to accept when so very many things in this life are difficult and painful.  Yet if we invite the Spirit to bend our understanding – to give us the mind of Christ – we begin to see the universe in a very different way.

We remember that creation was “good” in the beginning and can trust that God is working to restore everything completely through Jesus Christ, who came to “make all things new.” (Rev. 21:5)

We see God at work all around and within and through us.  Jesus said, “Believe Me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:11-12

We experience Emmanuel, God with us, through the work of the Holy Spirit within us. Jesus said, “But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 14:26)

We hear Jesus’ words to His disciples, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Absolutely nothing is lost that is of God as all things are reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ, who said, “All things have been committed to Me by My Father.” (Matthew 11:27)

We don’t have to fear circumstances, trouble, or even death, when we have put our lives and all that we love  into His hands.  When I remember this I am relieved, even if my circumstances appear unchanged or worse!  I know that my worry comes not from circumstances, but from not believing and trusting God.  What can anyone do to me?  Even in death we will find only resurrection and life.  Ha!

He has everything: the past, the present, and the future.  He holds everything and everything is held together by Him.  The Lord is working it ALL out for our certain good, even if we cannot see it. In Christ, we cannot lose.

We – can – not – lose.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.”
Psalm 136:1-3
