“This is the day the LORD has made,

we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24

This day. Every day. Every day God’s mercies are new to us. Every day is the day of salvation. Every day we are offered forgiveness. Every day is an invitation to enter into His rest. Every day He is making all things new again. We will rejoice and be glad!

One of my favorite things about the kingdom of God is that every day the Lord offers us a fresh opportunity to know Him and be known.  Every day is the first day, resurrection day, when we can once again believe and be changed simply by trusting today in the One who made and saved and loves us. Why is this so hard to fathom?

When we remember today who God is –  in the midst of living our lives –  He re-members us.  The Lord takes all of our pieces and makes us one with Him – giving us His peace.  But when we forget God, our lives fall into pieces and we become fractured. We cannot live on yesterday’s faith and be filled. Like manna from heaven, we need daily bread from our Father’s hand, which we receive by looking to Him every day.

With God, every day is new.  Every day we need only remember and turn to God, receive and believe Him. God does the rest – He is our rest! He is our Savior, our Great Physician, our Living Word, our Counselor, our Way, our Truth, our Life, our Prince of Peace, and Lover of our Souls.  In Him we live and move and have our being every day while it is still today.

I invite you to join me this year for a daily encounter with the Living God, day after day, each and every day, as we move from glory to glory in the presence of the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
